Increased Dressing Percentage

The Sheep CRC in collaboration with MLA and State DPI's provide half to one day workshops and training courses that assist producers to develop the skill and confidence to determine dressing percentage in a line of lambs to assist in predicting their final carcase weight and hence suitability for the market specification. Ideally the training is done within lairage at the processing plant so the producers can observe the measured carcase. Various modules and tools with the Making More From Sheep Manual provide the base training resources.

Benefits:

  • Increased carcase dressing percentage;
  • Increased value through the lamb supply chain.
