Bred Well Fed Well Workhop (Dandaragan)

Tuesday the 2nd of August
Workshop overview RamSelect and Bred Well Fed Well are both a one-day, practical workshop that can help commercial producers, stock agents and many others to advance their skills in ram selection using ASBVs. The workshops focus on how to use figures from MERINOSELECT and LAMBPLAN in conjunction with visual cues to help select rams that will breed the best progeny for your business. While RamSelect workshops are solely focused on showing you how ASBVs can be used to benefit you in your ram selection, Bred Well Fed Well Workshops also highlight feed management for improved reproductive performance and flock productivity. Bred Well Fed Well workshops are a joint collaboration between Meat & Livestock Australia (MLA) and Australian Wool Innovation (AWI). The RamSelect program was developed by Sheep Cooperative Research Centre (CRC) and the New South Wales Department of Primary Industries (NSW DPI), with assistance from Sheep Genetics, Meat and Livestock Australia, Australian Wool Innovation and the private sector. In 2014, RamSelect was the recipient of the ‘Excellence in Innovation’ award at the CRC Association Awards, nationally recognising the program for its contribution to the uptake of new research and improvements in industry productivity. Our department's Sheep Genetics Development Officer, Meghan Cornelius, is available for further information on these workshops or any other genetic evaluation enquiries. Meghan is undertaking this work under the Sheep Industry Business Innovation project, supported by the state government's Royalties for Regions program. For more information go to the DAFWA website:
